Mangalore, Feb 25: The state level Beary Women’s Convention organized by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy was held at Town Hall on February 25, Thursday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, Vijayalakshmi Shetty, president, Mangalore Taluk Womens Federal Union, said that Literature is a platform for a person to express one’s feeling.
He also said that, when a woman is educated, whole family will be educated. She also lauded the work of Anupama magazine, while provided the ample opportunity for the women to showcase their writing talent.
Presiding over the function, Zohara Nisar Ahmad, founder president, Shrishakti Block Society, said that World is the largest university and there is lot to study and the life experience itself is the chapters.
Today large numbers of Muslim women are found standing outside the criminal courts and police stations daily. But they are unable to answer when questioned by the officials and this is due to lack of education, she added.
She also said that the women who are known just for managing the baby in the cradle can now mange the country too. The educators must develop self confidence and work hard maintain their image in the society.
M B Abdul Rehman, president, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy welcomed the gathering. Bifathima Ahmad Haji, president, Thumbay Village Women’s Development Centre, Hilda Rayappan, founder director, Prajna Counseling Centre and Famidha Mulky, lecturer. Vijaya College, Mulky participated as the chief guest.
Shahidha Umar, sub editor, Anupama monthly and Safina Kabir, social worker compered the programme.
