Sullia: Couple die in scooter-lorry collision

Sullia, Decmeber 25, 2024: A couple lost their lives after their two-wheeler was hit by a container lorry near Chedavu near Sampaje on Tuesday evening.

The container was headed towards Madikeri from Sullia while the couple in the two-wheeler were proceeding towards Puttur from Siddapur when tragedy struck.

The deceased are Chidananda Acharya (48) and his wife Nalini (39). While Chidananda died on the spot, Nalini died in the hospital.

The couple were goldsmiths and were residents of Nellihudikeri in Siddapur of Kodagu. They stayed with their son. On Tuesday they had sent their son by bus and were travelling to Puttur in their two-wheeler.

Reckless driving by the lorry driver is said to be the cause of the mishap.
