Surathkal: Compound wall collapses killing labourer on spot

Surathkal, Jan 8: A compound wall, which was under construction, collapsed burying a labourer alive while two others had a miraculous escape on Jan 7, Friday in Suratkal.

The deceased is Sunil of Orissa. Although a group of labourers and policemen tried to save him by digging the debris around him, he was dead when he was found. One of the labourers who escaped has sustained injuries in the leg.

A case has been registered at the Suratkal police station. The Suratkal police have warned officials concerned to take the required precautionary measures during construction and keep a proper record of the labourers working for them.
