Suratkal: Youth arrested for harassing, instigating young woman to commit suicide

Mangaluru, October 26, 2024: Suratkal police have arrested a youth on the charges of harassing a young woman and instigating her to commit suicide.

The arrested man is Shariq of Idya. It is learnt, the accused had even hacked the Facebook account of the victim and had sent obscene messages and threats to her brother and his friend. A complaint was lodged by the woman at Suratkal police station on October 22.

The police had summoned the youth and had questioned him. Meanwhile, the woman continued to receive threats following which she reportedly attempted suicide. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and is recovering.

Meanwhile, police registered a case against Shariq and have arrested him.
