Thousands listen to Amma’s message at Amrita Sangama 2010

Mangalore, Feb 13: Addressing a huge gathering of devotees at Amrita Sangana 2010, a religious event organized in the premises of Brahmasthanam Temple in Boloor, Sultan Battery Road on Feb 13, Saturday, Mata Amritananada Mayi, popularly known to devotees as Amma, said that fear is the driving force behind every action in the modern world.

Amma reminded her devotees that the blessings of God will always be with the devotees at all times and urged them to live in the present and not dwell in the past.


Speaking about changes, she said that change is an important aspect of life and that we must accept changes happily. She said that inability to accept the reality of death is the chief cause of fear of illness and death.

District-in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar, the chief guest of the event, distributed scholarships under the Vidyaamrita Scheme to poor students. Praising Amma, he called her the replica of Swami Vivekananda, who successfully spread the message of Hinduism. Amma’s efforts in spreading the message of Hinduism and helping the needy is worthy of respect, he said; and added that the schemes she has implemented and the institutions she has founded out of her concern for the needy and suffering must be cherished.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel distributed tailoring kits to various beneficiaries under the Amrita Shri Garment Unit Scheme. MLA Yogish Bhat released the souvenir.


Ajith Kumar Rai Malady, the member of the reception committee, welcomed the gathering. Dr Sanath Hegde, the president of Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samithi, proposed the vote of thanks.


Amma participated in mediation programmes, satsang, bhajan sessions, and puja at the Brahmasthanam Temple in Boloor. Several rituals like Samoohika (mass) Shanipuja, Rahupuja, Lalithasahasranama Samoohika Archana and Udayastamana Puja was performed in the morning on the occasion of Amrita Sangama-2010, which was organized as a part of the Brahmastana Mahostava at the Brahmastana Temple.


Dignitaries such as Mayor Shankar Bhat, Suresh Shetty, Chairman of Corporation Bank J M Garg, and CEO of MSEZ A G Pai, CEO, MSEZ also participated in the programme.
