Three arrested for assaulting, looting woman at Moodbidri

Moodbidri, Sep 16, 2022: CCB police have arrested three persons in connection with the recent incident of looting a  woman who was living alone at her house at Ashwathapura in Moodbidri.

Those arrested are Sukesh Poojary (32), Dinesh Poojary (36) and Harish Poojary (34). Two scooters, gold ornaments weighing  62 grams, three mobile phones, a sword and two monkey caps have been recovered from the accused.

The incident had taken place on the night of August 30. The accused who knew that the woman Kamala lived alone barged into her house wearing monkey caps, threatened her with a machete and then robbed her mangalasutra and two gold chains after assaulting her.

Days after the incident, one of the accused had even acted as if he intended to help the victim. The arrested trio  have earlier been booked in a case of areca theft while Sukesh also has a POCSO case against him.
