Three engineering students drown in private resort’s swimming pool in Ullal

Ullal, November 17, 2024: In a tragic incident, three engineering students drowned in a swimming pool at a private resort in Someshwara under the Ullal police station limits on Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Keerthana N. (21) resident of Devaraja Mohalla, Vijayanagar, Mysuru; Nishitha M.D. (21) resident of 4th Cross, Kurubarahalli, Mysuru and Parvathi S. (20) resident of 11th Cross, Ramanuja Road, K.R. Mohalla, Mysuru.

The tragic incident occurred at a private resort located in Peribail, Battappadi Cross Road, Someshwara village. The three women had arrived at the resort on Saturday morning and were playing in the swimming pool near the resort’s entrance around 10:00 AM today.

During this time, they reportedly placed a mobile phone near the pool to record a video before entering the water. It is suspected that the women, who were not skilled swimmers, ventured into the deeper part of the pool and drowned. The resort staff discovered the incident later.

A team led by Ullal Police Inspector H.N. Balakrishna visited the scene for an investigation. The authorities have sealed the resort and suspended its trade license and tourism permits, sources said.
