Two-day Ullal Beach Festival attracts huge crowds

Mangalore, Nov 25, 2012: The Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala (MYM) organized the Ullala Beach Festival in commemoration of its 25th anniversary.

The 2-day event promises plenty of fun as it includes a kite show, a kabbadi tournament, throw ball competitions, and cultural programs in the evening.

The festival is attracting a large number of families, many of who tried out the boating facilities and the horse rides, while others just watched the scene.

The new school building of the government-aided Mogaveera Higher Primary School, which was renovated by the Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala, was inaugurated on this occasion. While Jagadeesh Boloor, managing director of Yojaka Pvt. Ltd. inaugurated the ground floor of the school building, Lakshmi M. Kumaran, deputy general manager (CC and CSR) of MRPL, inaugurated the upper floors. Industrialist Dr. G. Shankar unveiled the school name.

Crackers were burst on the occasion, and the keys of the new school building were presented to the school administrators.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the beach festival by releasing colorful balloons into the air. KIOCL General Manager (production) N. Vidyananda, released the special souvenir of Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala.

The Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala conferred awards on six achievers and social workers in  recognition of their contributions to society. Environmentalist Salumarada Thimmakka, social worker Harekala Hajakka, and dance teacher Ullal Mohan Kumar received the Maruthi Sadhaka Prashasthi on this occasion. Vilas Nayak, Nihal Ullal, and Prathiba Shetty received the Maruthi Yuva Prashasthi.

Speaking on the occasion, Nalin Kumar Kateel expressed his appreciation of the Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala.  

MLA U. T. Khader presided over the event.

Among those present were David Johnson, international cricketer; Basil D’Souza, president of the Ullal Town Panchayath; Sadananda Bangera, president of the Ullala Mogaveera Sangha; Jayakara Bangera, president of the Mumbai unit of the Ullala Mogaveera Sangha; Pundalik Karkera, the social worker; and Vedanthi, headmistress of the Ullal Mogaveera Higher Primary School.

An orchestra by Vijayaprakash, composer and singer of the popular number Jai Ho, formed the highlight of the event.

The Ullal Beach Festival will conclude this evening.
