Udupi, February 6, 2025: In a shocking case reported from Saligrama in Brahmavar, a bride has reportedly fled with jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees from her husband’s home, just a couple of weeks after marriage. The incident reportedly took place last year.

A person named Denis Cardoza (64) of Saligrama has filed a police complaint against his daughter-in-law.

Women flee

Denis Cardoza’s son Antony Cardoza had married Anusha at St Antony Church in Sastan on December 26, 2023.

Latha Mary of Udupi had introduced the family of Anusha to the family of Denis. On February 9, 2024, Anusha informed that her mother was ill and wished to visit her. Accordingly, she was sent off by her husband after giving her Rs 5000 for travel expenses. Anthony dropped her at the KSRTC bus stand and she left in a bus to Hassan.

However the family found jewellery worth several lakhs missing from home the same evening. Anusha when contacted reportedly admitted her guilt but failed to do return the jewellery. Instead Anusha’s family including her mother reportedly abused the complainants and even demanded Rs 25 lakhs to return the jewellery.

Later a private petition was filed in the court and the Kota police are now investigating the case.
