Udupi DC clarifies viral "Sultanpur" entry on Dishaank App, assures no change in village map

Udupi, November 3 , 2024: Udupi Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vidya Kumari issued a statement today to address growing social media attention around the appearance of “Sultanpur” under survey number 120 on the Karnataka government’s land record application, Dishaank.

The name "Sultanpur," a previously unlisted village name in Udupi, recently went viral after users checking land records for potential Waqf property concerns spotted it on the app. According to Dr. Vidya Kumari, the name "Sultanpura" appears under survey numbers 120 and 85 in Shivalli village, Udupi taluk.

Dr. Kumari clarified that there has been no official change in the village records or maps and that "Sultanpur" does not exist as a village in Udupi’s official documents. She also encouraged the public to download the complete village maps for verification. These maps are accessible on the government’s land records portal at landrecords.karnataka.gov.in, where users can confirm the absence of "Sultanpur" in the official documentation.

The Deputy Commissioner’s clarification aims to quell misinformation circulating on social media and reaffirm the accuracy of official village maps in Udupi.
