Udupi, Jan 19, 2014: Sri Vidya Vallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Mutt ascended the Paryaya (Sarvajna) Peetha on January 18, Saturday in accordance to the customs and traditions of the Sri Krishna Mutt. He will now be offering the rituals and pooja to Lord Sri Krishna for the next two years. This is the second Paryaya for the Kaniyoor seer.
The outgoing Paryaya Seer Sri Vishwa Vallabha Theertha Swamiji of Sode Vadiraja Mutt, handed over the charge to the new Paryaya seer as per the tradition.
The Paryaya Mahotsava procession began near Jodukatte early in the morning. Six of the seers from among the Ashta Mutt seers heralded a new tradition this time by sitting in palanquins placed on vehicles. However, Shiroor Seer participated in the procession by sitting in an open jeep.
Once the procession reached Carstreet, all the six seers had a Darshan of Lord Krishna through Kanakana Kindi. The outgoing Paryaya seer welcomed the new seer near the entrance of the Sri Krishna Mutt and had a Darshan of Lord Krishna through Navagriha Kindi. He then handed over the Akshaya Patra, the keys of the sanctum sanctorum and a ladle to the new Paryaya seer.
The Paryaya Darbar held later on was attended by the Pejawar seer, Krishnapur, Shiroor, Phalimar and the outgoing Pejawar seer along with the new Paryaya seer.
Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Puttige Mutt and Admar Sri Vishwa Priya Theertha Swamiji abstained from the Paryaya procession as well as Darbar.
