Udupi’s Rahul Shettigar tops civil judge exam

Mangaluru, January 15, 2023: A city advocate has topped the Civil Judge Examination-2022, that is conducted by the high court of Karnataka.

Rahul Shettigar,28, a resident of Parkala, Udupi, and former student of SDM Law College, Mangaluru, practising under advocate PP Hegde, has bagged first rank in the state. Along with him, 39 other candidates have been selected for the civil judge posts. The exam was held for the recruitment of a total of 56 civil judges.

“My father, Sarvodaya Shettigar, is a retired district and sessions court judge, and it was a dream to step into his shoes. It was also my wish, that I must pass the examination on my first attempt, and it happened,” said Shettigar. His mother, Leelavathi Shettigar, is a retired Indian Railways employee.

Shettigar passed his law in 2018, and soon after, started practising under advocate PP Hegde. On how he prepared for the exam, he said that never took a break from regular practice. “I used to practice both in Udupi and Mangaluru courts. I never took a study break for the examination. After my work, I used to study for three hours daily, and for the prelims, I began studying a month before the examination,” said Shettigar, adding that the viva was held in December.
