Ullal Abbakka Utsav Samithi threatens to hold separate Abakka Utsav

Mangaluru, Feb 17, 2020: The Veerarani Abbakka Utsav Samithi of Ullal has threatened to hold a separate Abbakka Utsav on April 18 and 19 if the district administration fails to include the name of the Samithi in the invitation of the Veerarani Abbakka Utsav to be organised by it.

 

 

 

 

Speaking to reporters here on February 17, Monday, President of the Samithi and former MLA  K Jayaram Shetty said1 20 members were incorporated in the Utsav Samithi without following any  yardstick.

He said  there has been no positive response to the Utsav  from the public  since the past two years as the Ullal  Abbakka Utsav Samithi was not part of the   official committee. He also pointed out that the Utsav was being organised  by the Ullal Samithi itself from 2008 to 2017.

He expressed his displeasure over  the fact that the Abbakka Study Chair has still not commenced in the  Mangalore University for lack of grants. The Samithi also put forward its demands to set up a Smriti Mandir in the name of Abbakka, to develop Someshwar as a tourist spot, to establish Abbakka Museum, Theme Park, installation of Abbakka statue in front of DC office, naming a road after Abbakka in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mangaluru and  naming a train originating from Mangaluru as Abbakka Express.

Hyder Parthippady, Honorary Vice President of the Committee, former president Dinaker Ullal, General Secretary Dhanalakshmi Gatti and others were present.
