Ullal: Woman falls off bike as saree gets stuck in wheel, dies

Mangaluru, Sep 25, 2023: In a tragic incident occurred near R.H. 66 in Kallapu Nagana Katte near Thokkottu, a woman riding pillion on a bike with her brother, died due to severe injuries as she fell off the bike after her saree got entangled in the moving bike’s wheel.

 

The deceased has been identified as Suma Narayana Gatti (51), a resident of Madhur in Kasaragod district. The incident occured on Sunday. Suma had participated in an annual puja event at her family’s residence in Pilaru, a village in Sowmeshwara Grama.

Around evening, Suma, along with her brother, was returning home on their scooter when she suddenly fell off the scooter near R.H. 66 at Kallapu Nagana Katte. It is suspected that her saree got entangled in the scooter’s wheel, leading to the accident. The Mangalore South Traffic Police have registered a case regarding the incident.

Suma Gatti was a prominent figure in the Gatti community of Madhur and served as the President of the Women’s Wing of the Gatti Social Organization. She was actively involved in various social and community organizations. She leaves behind her husband, two daughters and a son.
