Mangaluru, Sep 23, 2023: The Union Government is shedding crocodile tears for women by tabling the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, alleged senior Congress leader and former chief minister M Veerappa Moily.
He was speaking to reporters at the Congress office at Mallikatte on September 23, Saturday.
If the Union Government had real concern towards women, then it would not have waited so long to table the bill, he said.
“Gender bias has increased in the nation and there have been many incidents that harmed the plurality of the nation. As many as 42 languages are facing extinction,” he said and alleged that poverty and economic inequality has increased in the nation in the past nine years.
On BJP-JD(S) alliance, Moily said it would only cause loss to the BJP rather than any gain. The Congress has learnt from this, he said.
He also expressed his wish to contest from Chikkaballapur constituency in the next Lok Sabha election.
Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Harish Kumar, former MLA J R Lobo, former MLC Ivan D’Souza and others were present on the occasion.
