Uppinangady: Fire in areca plantation destroys over 250 trees

Uppinangady, February 15, 2025: A fire mishap in an areca plantation at Padyottu in Hirebandady village has gutted over 250 areca trees.

The fire broke out in the one acre areca plantation owned by Yatish Shetty. The loss has been estimated at several thousands of rupees.

Though Puttur and Belthangady fire tender vehicles rushed to the spot, they could not douse the fire. Finally fire tender vehicles from Bantwal arrived and brought the fire under control.

The electric line passing above the plantation is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
