Urwa cops draw flak for going on tour with cyber crime accused

Mangaluru, February 26, 2025: Urwa police have drawn flak for going on a tour at the expense of arrested cyber criminals. If that was not suffice, they are now facing the accusation of holding a cyber crime awareness programme for law college students, with the help of those accused of cyber fraud.

The selfies clicked by the cops along with the accused have also surfaced.

The two cyber crime accused Rajkumar Meena (23) and Subhash Gurjer (27) of Rajasthan who were accused of cheating Amazon company of nearly Rs 30 crores were arrested by the Tamil Nadu police in Salem.

As the accused had case against them in Urwa police station, they were brought to the city from Salem prison after securing body warrant. The police are facing accusation of going to Gujarat on the pretext of investigation at the expense of the accused. The cops had travelled by flight to Gujarat and in the course of the trip had developed friendship with one of the accused and travelled to different places at his expense.

In the awareness programme on cyber crime held at the station in the presence of police officers of the station, the accused himself spoke on cyber crime.

The duo arrested in the case have over 10 cases in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, Karnataka, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The case in Urwa police station was regard to cheating of a vigilance officer of Mahindra Logistics.
