VC urged to order probe into alleged sexual harassment of research students

Mangalore, Jan 9,2013 : A delegation of representatives from various progressive organizations  met Mangalore University Vice Chancellor  Prof. TC Shivashankeramurthi on January 8, Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to him  urging for steps to make the University campus a safe place for women.

 

 

The delegation led by Lolaksha, leader of AHINDA, also urged the VC to   order a probe into the alleged sexual harassment of Ph.D students by professors in the Department  of Sociology and Kannada. They further demanded that the professors concerned be suspended if found guilty.

The delegation also urged the Vice Chancellor to hold the heads of the respective departments responsible for any case of sexual harassment of female students or staff.
