Various organisations join protest demanding announcement of date for Suratkal toll gate closure

Mangaluru, Sep 13, 2022: Various like-minded organisations led by the Action Committee Against Suratkal toll gate staged a protest near the toll gate on September 13, Tuesday demanding announcement of a date for the  removal of the toll gate.

 

Committee Convenor Muneer Katipalla who addressed the protestors, alleged that the elected representatives were only giving false assurances so far regarding the closure of the toll gate.

If the administration fails to announce the date of removal of the toll gate, then the Committee will itself announce the date when locals themselves will remove the toll gate, he warned.

Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai who also spoke questioned why the BJP elected representatives have refrained from participating in the protest. The MP has been lying and cheating the public, he alleged.

Former MLA Abhayachandra Jain who also spoke, said the date for the removal of the toll gate should be announced and warned of a jail bharo agitation otherwise.

Purushottam Chitrapur, Pratibha Kulai, former MLA  B A Moidin Bava,  Dinesh Hegde Ulepady, Shashidhar Hegde and others took part in the protest.

Deputy Tahsildar Naveen arrived at the spot and accepted memorandum from the protestors.
