Vittala Malekudiya (22), a student of journalism and mass communication at Mangalore University, was arrested by the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) for alleged association with Naxals on March 3 at his house in Kuthlur in Belthangady along with his father.

Vittala had applied for bail at a fast track court in Puttur so that he can appear for his exams. The judge, however had refused bail on grounds that the police had enough evidences pointing to his connection with Naxal activities.

Now the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court has directed the Mangalore sub-jail authorities to arrange for police escort for him to the examination hall till April 20 and a copy of the order has been marked to Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor T.C. Shivashankar Murthy.
