Wild elephant comes in way of bus at Charmady Ghat; vehicular movement hit

Belthangady, June 13, 2024: A wild elephant all of a sudden appeared on the seventh and eighth curve of Charmady Ghat late night on Wednesday and blocked the way of a bus. This resulted in disruption of vehicular movement on the road for some time.

The bus driver immediately halted the bus on seeing the elephant. Even the passengers were panic stricken on seeing the elephant. The elephant which was on the road for nearly half an hour later entered the nearby forest area.

The incident resulted in a serpentine queue of vehicles upto two kilometers.

Local residents who say the wild elephant is often spotted on the Charmady Ghat have urged the forest department to shift it to some other place.
