Mangaluru, April 17, 2016: : Medical negligence has been blamed for the death of a woman suffering from hand pain, at a private hospital at Derlakatte where she underwent surgery. Family members and relatives of the woman also staged a protest in front of the Spoorthi Polyclinic at Tokkottu where the woman had initially gone for treatment, by placing the body of the woman in front of the clinic and accusing the doctor of medical negligence.
The deceased woman has been identified as Saraswathi, wife of late Parameshwara of Gandhinagar near Tokkottu.It is learnt, Saraswathi had visited the polyclinic on April 6 after she had developed severe pain in her hand while unloading sand the previous day. As per the suggestion of the doctor she was admitted to a private hospital at Derlakatte on April 9 and had undergone a surgery on April 10.
It is learnt, Saraswati was in the intensive care till April 14 and doctors pronounced her dead that day. Sources said the doctors did not allow the family to see her or to take her to another hospital stating her condition was serious.
The family of the woman has lodged a police complaint with regard to medical negligence. The protest in front of the clinic was participated by nearly 100 people including Rohith Ullal, Honorary Advisor of Koragajja Seva Samithi, Murali Mohan Salian, General Secretary of Block Congress as well as members of BJP, Congress and Dalita Sangharsha Samithi
