Workers felicitated on International Labourers Day

Mangalore, May 1: The DK District Karmika Parishad, the Bus Employees Association, and the DK District Headload Workers’ Association jointly observed the International Labourers’ Day at Ravindra Kala Bhavan in University College on May 1, Sunday. Several workers were honored in appreciation of their hard work and service to society.

Ninganagowda Jantli, the district judge of the fast track court, inaugurated the programme. In his address, Jantli urged workers to abstain from alcohol because it wrecks not only their lives, but also their health and financial condition. He advised them that contentment, loyalty, and honesty were essential for a happy life.


A number of labourers including conductors, head-load workers, and bus drivers, who had served for over 30 years, were felicitated. K. Bavu, Krishnappa, Mohammed Kunhi, Lokanath, Manohar Shetty, Gopi Hengsu, Mohan Rai, Hemavathi, and Ramani were some of the workers honored.


The chief guests of the event were MLA U. T. Khader and Azeez Kudroli. Advocate Ivan D’Souza presided over the event, and Venkatesh Shindhihatti and R. D. Patil, the district civil judge, also addressed the workers.
