Yakshagana artiste collapses on stage; dies of heart attack

Mangaluru, Dec 23, 2022: A Yakshagana artiste collapsed on stage during a performance and later succumbed to heart attack at a hospital on December 22, Thursday.

 

 

 

The deceased is Guruvappa Bayaru (58) who was an artiste of the fourth troupe of Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Prasaditha Yakshagana Mandali.

The troupe was staging ’Trijanma Moksha’ Yakshagana on the  stage of Saraswathi Sadana of Kateel Kshetra. Guruvappa  had donned the Shishupala  role. While another character was dancing on the stage, Guruvappa who too was present had collapsed all of a sudden.

He was immediately rushed to a local private hospital and then to another hospital. However his life could not be saved.
