Youth attacked for questioning illegal sand extraction

Mangaluru, November 25, 2024: A youth was brutally assaulted by those engaged in illegal sand extraction for questioning them at Thota Bengre estuary area.

The fishermen who were present at the spot during wee hours had questioned  those engaged in sand extraction illegally. Soon after, a gang of 15 persons tried to attack them. While many managed to escape one youth sustained injuries when he was attacked with a pickaxe.

The seriously injured fisherman has been rushed to the hospital.

Fishermen of the locality have demanded stern action against illegal sand extraction which was rampant in the area.
