Mangalore, May 29, 2012 : St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) organized a farewell party on May 23, Wednesday for Fr. Valerian D’Souza, its founder director, who has been transferred after serving for 10 years at SJEC.
Speaking about the remarkable leadership qualities of Fr. Valerian D’Souza, Fr. Henry Mascarenhas, assistant director of SJEC, said that SJEC grew under his leadership to become a highly reputable college.
Fr. Joseph Lobo, successor of Fr. Valerian D’Souza, also lauded his leadership abilities.
Several members of the teaching, administrative, and technical staff at SJEC, along with Dr. Joseph Gonsalves, principal, spoke of their experiences with Fr. Valerian D’Souza.
The college also presented him a memento, a bowl of fruits, and a shawl.
In response to the honor, Fr. Valerian D’Souza shared some secrets of his success. Stating that he does not understand several technical things, he said that he only trusted his staff. He said that he owes his success to the loyalty and dedication of the staff.
Meredith and Robin, who are both students at SJEC, presented bouquets to Fr. Valerian D’Souza.
