Udupi, Mar 12, 2015: Presiding over the inaugural function of the two-day 10th Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Sammelan here, Pundalika Halambi, President,  State unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishath (KSP) staed recently  that issues of religion and caste should not be used for dividing people in the coastal districts.

President  Halambi recalled his childhood days in his village in Kundapur taluk, saying, “ Such close relations with people from other communities existed,”  He added,  religion and caste should not be used for negative ends. He said his comment on this issue was not aimed at any particular individual or organisation, but at everyone in the region.  He said he was embarrassed when people questioned him on attacks on places of worship here. “People should have a broad and secular outlook with civil value
