‘ESI scheme implementation must be strict’

Udupi, March 05, 2016: It is reported that the Common People Welfare Association has urged the government and district authorities to properly implement the ESI - Employees State Insurance Scheme in Udupi district.

Addressing the media, G.A. Koteyar, president of the association, said that in some private firms, the implementation of the scheme was partial, in some other private firms it was hardly implemented. He alleged that this was due to the collusion of the firms and government officials.

The ESIS cover should be provided to all autorickshaw drivers and contract workers. Action should be taken against government officials who were lax in implementing the scheme, he said.
