Udupi, Nov 07, 2016: A Serious action to register opposition to the Yettinahole Project and the proposed diversion of Nethravati river, which could see the biodiversity-rich Western Ghats lose more than 6,000 trees, activists in Dakshina Kannadaand Udupi districts have launched a missed call campaign.

The response to the campaign has been nothing short of overwhelming, with more than 25,000 people responding within a few days of its launch.

Within minutes of sending an SMS or giving a missed call to a number that the campaign is using, a reply which reads "Thanks for your support in saving the Nethravti river diversion" is sent, accompanied with a youtube link for a 12-minute short film, Aluthiruvalu Nethravati.

The documentary, directed by Sahyadri Sancharya and produced by pace Media Productions and Swasthik Videos, is an attempt by themakers to explain why the Yettinahole project is not viable.
