Sep 13, 2017: Two ‘veshadharis’ who don special costumes and perform during Krishna Janmashtami have said that they would put on their costumes to raise money to help children undergoing medical treatment and for an old-age home, respectively. Speaking to media Ravi K., a veshadhari, said that he would don the costume of Krampus, a half-goat, half-demon, here on September 13 and 14.
He intended to raise Rs. 5 lakh, which will handed over to the kin of three children – one each from Moodbidri, Shivamogga and Dendurkatte, who are undergoing medical treatment.
Last year, he had raised Rs. 4.65 lakh, which was handed over to four children through Ms. Francis, who was then CEO of Zilla Panchayat, he said. Speaking to presspersons separately, Ramanji, an artiste, said that he would don the costume and role of ‘Maarikaadu’ and intended to raise at least Rs. 1 lakh, which would then be donated to the Kalvari Old Age Home at Korangarapady.
