Mangalore, Oct 5, 2014: Vijayadashami was celebrated at Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur near here on October 2, with the Vidyarambha ceremony. The ceremony marks the beginning of education process of children. During the Vidyarambha ceremony, ‘Om’ is written on the tongue of children with a turmeric twig.
The children are then made to write alphabets in rice grains. After offering pooja to the Goddess, new rice and ‘kadiru’ is distributed among the devotees. Temple tantri Ramachandra Adiga, priesr N Govinda Adiga among others carried out the rituals. As a part of Navaratri celebrations, rathotsava was held on Oct 1, night. Thousands of devotees pulled the chariot.
Mangaladevi temple : As a part of Navarathri festival, Vidyarambha ceremony was held on Oct 3. Rathorahana was held in the afternoon. Hundreds of devotees participated in the rathotsava held in the evening. As a part of cultural programme, Macchendranath and team played Saxophone on the occasion.
