Mangalore, Nov 1, 2013: "Ashta Kanoon Maargadarshini" -the first book in Kannada written by Advocate, Notary Public and Marriage Registrar Stanley R D’Costa was released by Pradeep Kumar Kalkura-President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat at Mangalore Press Club on 30 November. The book contains important legal information about eight different laws of the country. They are: Family Courts Act, Law of Human Rights, Indian Penal Code, Environment Protection Act, Guardian and Wards Act, Motor Vehicles Act, Mental Health Protection Bill, and Change of Name.
D’Costa practicing as a advocate in Mangalore Courts for the past 20 years, has written legal articles regularly in four Konkani and one Kannada news papers. So far four legal information books written by him in Konkani language and well accepted by the Konkani speaking community. His second book ” Kanoon Maheth” in Konkani was selected as “Best Book” and awarded by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy in 2010.
Speaking to the reporters Stanley D’Costa said,” I am more concerned about educating and creating legal awareness to the common people. The legal information provided in this book is very much required to our day to day affair”.
Dr Annayya Kulal-Chief Medical Officer, Srinivas Group of Institutions and Ashok Ariga-President of Mangalore Bar Association were also on the dais during the book release.
