’Eighth global Konkani music awards’ Nominees announced

Mangaluru, Nov 21, 2016:  Top three nominees for the eighth global Konkani music awards conferred by Mandd Sobhann have been selected by the first panel of three judges from among 122 applicats.  The music awards will be given away in six categories - best singer (male/female); best lyricist, best music arranger, best music composer and best music album.

The nominees for best singer female are Shilpa Cutinha (Mangaluru) for her song Dollyank Kazall (album - Tem
Yenvchya Vella); Padmini D Nayak (Mangaluru) for her song Bhagiyantu Fool Fultana (album - Bhas Konkani Rag Tarangini), and Joshal Sweeda D’Souza (Dubai) for her song Tum Yetay Mho’nnun (album - Hero-Only Yours).

Those in contention for best male singer are Robin J P Sequeira (Dubai) for his song Moga Tuji Yad (album - Moga Savlli), Lawry Travasso (Goa) for the song Padri Ani Igo’rjyo (album - Saibinn Amchi Maim), and K Nithin (Kochi) for the song Tem Yenvchya Vella (album - Tem Yenvchya Vella).

Contenders for best lyricist award are Wilson Sequeira (Kateel) for the song Tem Yenvchya Vella (album - Tem Yenvchya Vella), Pobre Fernandes (Goa) for Song Mamageli Bo’ylam-Gaddi (album - Mannkam Ani Motiam) and Lloyd Austin Rego (Taccode) for the song Yore Pavsa (album - Moga Savlli).

In the best music arranger category, Tagore Das (Mangaluru) for song Mukta Tuka Mho’nnu Ko’so (album - Bhas Konkani Rag Tarangini), Stephen Frank (Belthangady) for song Az Punni (album - E’k Geet) and Roshan D’Souza (Angelore) for song Dollyank Kazall (album - Tem Yenvchya Vella) are the contenders.


Tagore Das (Mangaluru) for song Mukta Tuka Mho’nnu Ko’so (album - Bhas Konkani Rag Tarangini); Roshan D’Souza (Angelore) for song Moga Tuji Yad (album - Moga Savlli) and Kevin Misquith (Surathkal) and Stephen Frank (Belthangady) for song Az Punni (album - E’k Geet) will vie for top honours in the best music composer category.

In the final category, namely best music album, the contenders are Hero - Only Yours produced by Roshan Donald Correa, Dubai; Moga Savlli produced by Dilraj Rodrigues, Mangaluru and Tem Yenvchya Vella produced by Ajith Peter D’Souza, Dubai.
The second panel of three judges will select the winners. All nominees will be honoured and winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony that will be held at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar on December 11 at 6pm. Each award includes cash prize of Rs 25,000, coveted title and trophy.

Multi-platinum recording artist and playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti will be the chief guest. Goa’s pride Sidhanath Buyao will perform. Nach Sobhann troupe will also perform dances and there will also be songs by Konkani singing club of Mandd Sobhann - Sumell. Award-winning playwright Arun Raj Rodrigues and eminent MC and fashion designer Hera Pinto will compere the programme.
