’Mangaluru Sangeethotsava’ at Sri Ramakrishna Math from November 24

Mangaluru, Nov 21, 2016: As per information available, Sangeetha Parishat, Mangaluru in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru is organizing a four-day music festival ’Mangaluru Sangeethotsava’ at Swami Vivekananda auditorium of the math at Mangaladevi here from November 24. The festival will feature Carnatic classical music concerts by renowned artistes of South India in both vocal and accompanying instruments, Dr C R Ballal, honourary president of the Parishat stated.

The opening day will see a concert by M B Hariharan and Ashok S, aka Bengaluru brothers after the inaugural programme. Aneesh V Bhat from Puttur, an upcoming artist of Dakshina Kannada district will present a vocal concert on November 25. The following day will see a veena recital by Y G Srilatha from Bengaluru at 4pm. This veena recital will be followed by vocal concert by Sriranjani Santhanagopalan, one of the eminent vocalists from Chennai at 6pm.

The last day of the event will see action right through the day. T V Shankaranarayanan, eminent vocalist from Chennai will kickstart the action at 10am. Post-lunch, Gowthan Bhat P G, winner of junior level music competition organized by the parishath will present a vocal concert at 1.45pm. Next on stage will be Aathreyee Krishnaa from Karkala, winner of senior level music competition organized by the parishath will present a vocal concert at 2.30pm.

At the valedictory function, K U Raghavendra Rao, well-known flutist and music maestro from Udupi will be felicitated. The last concert of Sangeethotsava will see a violin-chitraveena jugal bandhi featuring Shreya Devanath and Vishal Sapuram from Chennai at 4pm. Aathreyee Krishnaa and Sahana Udupa from Udupi, Sunada Krishna Amai and Gowtham Bhat P G and winners of music competitions will receive the young talent awards and prize at valedictory function.
