’Midnight hunger’ Mangaluru Manipal eateries home delivery

Mangaluru, Oct 4, 2017: The new trend is out,  when most eateries of Mangaluru take the last order by 10.30pm, many late-night eateries have sprung up. They deliver home your favourite foods which ranges from lip-smacking burgers to biriyani, milkshakes to juices and more. Are you one of those who is hungry around midnight and there’s no restaurant open? Fret not, food home delivery outlets mushrooming in the city will satiate your hunger pangs.

Some restaurants have extended their timings to help those looking for a quick-bite when the city is fast asleep. Earlier, Bombay Lucky Restaurant in Bunder was the only place open at midnight. A media survey found that the majority of customers who order from these outlets are students, travellers, and some locals, who party late at night.

"The midnight eatery concept was started quite a while back, but it stopped once the out let was opened  in Nanthoor. Again  three months ago operations were started in Manipal and Mangaluru," said Shawn Mathias, owner, Knock Knockk- Burger Bistro. They do home delivery of food till 2 am in the city limits. It seems there is very good response. d.

Another leading midnight food delivery service -Knight Bite- started six months ago gets around 100 orders per night. "Most of our customers are youngsters and those, who travel at night. There has been a positive response from food lovers," said Saif Vakhar, a partner of Knight Bite. Vakhar, an engineering graduate, said their outlet is known for special burger and will soon offer continental food.

For those who love traditional Kerala food, Hungry Owl, which started just two weeks ago, caters to the demand. Operating from 4pm to 4am, this home delivery food outlet offers Kappa (tapioca) and Meen (fish) Curry, the all-time popular combination of God’s Own Country, parota and other items. "Mangaluru has a lot of students from Kerala and they don’t get home food. We strive to provide them so that they don’t miss home," says Sijo Yesudas, a partner.

The midnight eateries are Hunger Lust, operating from past month, which delivers food in city limits between 7pm and 2.30am. It operates in Manipal too.

Apart from it, Tide at Ocean Pearl is open 24/7 and know for its midnight buffet, which is open till 2am and after that, the all-day menu is served.
