Mangaluru, April 9,2015 : In honour of the memory of farmer late Purushottamarao, Purushottamarao Krishi Samshodhana Prathishtana Theerthahalli and Savayava Grahakara Balaga will organise ’Purushottama Sanmana’, felicitation ceremony of Rudrappa-Veerappa families, for their achievement in organic farming, at Sangha Nikethana, Mannagudde in Mangaluru on April 11 at 10.30 am.

Foundation Convenor Arunkumar said though the award is being conferred from 2000, the ceremony is being organised in Dakshina Kannada for first time. A procession of awardees will be held from Marigudi to Sangha Nikethana at 9.30 am. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will preside at 10.30 am.

Books related to organic farming will be exhibited and also showcase organic vegetable seeds, products, machineries and varieties of paddy seeds. The honour is being given to a family or organisation every year, he said. Rudramma and Rudrappa and Chandramma and Veerappa (Veeranna) of Vittalapur village of Chikkamagaluru District have turned around 15 acre of waste land into fertile in 30 years of hard work and following organic farming successfully.
