Udupi, Nov 6, 2016: Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Parishat has decided to organise month-long cultural and literary programmes all over the district to commemorate Karnataka Rajyotsava.
’Sadagara’, the celebration, was inaugurated in Karkala on November 1, said Parishat president Neelavar Surendra Adiga. ’Hiriyaredege Sahityada Nadige’, ’Maneyangaladalli Kale Mattu Sahitya’, ’Gamaka Vachana’, ’Kannada Geethegala Gayana’, ’Makkala Habba’, felicitation of retired teachers, ’Kavigosti’, programmes marking the unification of Karnataka’, study camp on the new wave Kannada curriculum and ’Kannada Theru’ are among the programmes. Writers like Veeranna Shetty, Moidheen Saheb and Joseph Louis will be honoured.
The literary fest is in houses at Chitrakoota, Chitthoor, Padugopadi, Chitrapadi, Brahmavar and Ambalapadi. Veteran writer Chandrasekhar Kedlaya, Upendra Somiyaji, K Sathish Kumar would be resource person in schools hosting ’Gamaka Vachana’. Adiga said State Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Manu Baligar will inaugurate the camp on new wave Kannada curriculum from November 19 to 23 at Sharada College, Basrur. Language scholars and about 40 students from primary school to PG courses will take part.
The programme for the unification of Karnataka is at Bhandarkars College, Kundapur, from November 11 to 19, at SVT College, Karkala, on November 23 and at Government PU College, Kundapur, on November 30. Adiga said Kannada Theru would begin at Kota PU College on November 5. It would include programmes on Kannada literature in and round Kota hobli and screening of a small feature film.
A medical camp will be held at Hebri on November 6 with renowned physicians participating. On November 20, a Sammelana emphasising on agriculture in the backdrop of globalisation will be held at Manur. Interaction with progressive farmers, expo of farm machines and farmers’ Kavigosti is organised. Workers from the unorganised sector will be honoured. Adiga said a fund-raising programme is held to build the district Kannada Sahitya Parishat building. A panel would be set up under the leadership of district in-charge minister.
