Moodbidri, July 05, 2016: A total of 12,023 candidates, irrespective of qualification, attended the fair’s seventh edition. At least 1210 total received job offer letters and 4,744 candidates were shortlisted for various jobs at ’Alva’s Pragati 2016’, a two-day job fair at Vidyagiri campus of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, that concluded July 3, Sunday.
A media release from the foundation, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Exchange offered jobs to 13 candidates with an annual package of Rs nine lakh. New Medical Centre (NMC) selected 13 candidates offering an annual package of Rs 6 to Rs 6.5 lakh. Standard Chartered extended offer letters the highest to 40 candidates with Rs 1.8 to Rs 3.5 lakh per annum and Amazon selected 116 candidates with annual package in the range of Rs 2.2 to Rs 3 lakh. Narayana Health selected 76 candidates promising an annual pay between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh and Tech Mahindra selected 321 candidates offering an annual pay from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. Tesco shortlisted 69 candidates with a package of Rs 2.6 lakh while Bodh technologies selected a candidate and shortlisted 11 candidates promising Rs 1.75 to Rs 9 lakh per annum.
According to the organisers, the increase in footfall this time can be attributed to incorporation of latest on communication front to enable the job seekers. A dedicated mobile app helped aspirants to zero in on the opportunities matching with their credentials, while the website offered total information on participating companies, recruitment pattern, location am ong other allied matters.
There were also more participation of companies from different sectors, such as manufacturing, information technology, IT enabled services, telecom, BFSi, sales and retail, pharma, hospitality, healthcare, education and also NGOs to name a few.
On the inaugural day on July 2, a total of 10,856 candidates took part and on the second and concluding day the footfall was 1,167 taking the total number of participants to 12,023. As many as 10,864 candidates had registered online and another 1,974 had registered on the day.
