10-year-old girl from Bengaluru electrocuted

Mangaluru, Nov 11, 2014:  A 10-year-old girl from Bengaluru, who had come with her family to Kukke Subrahmanya temple, was electrocuted at a shop near the temple on Monday.

According to Subrahmanya police, Deepa (10) was standing with her mother and other family members while they were buying fruits from the shop.

In moments, the girl moved away from her mother and inadvertently touched a live wire that had snapped from an electricity pole. Deepa’s mother and the others tried to save her.

Later, Deepa and her mother, who also suffered burns, were taken to a hospital where Deepa died. Deepa’s mother is in the hospital, the police said. Deepa’s uncle has filed a complaint accusing Mangalore Electricity Company Limited officials of negligence.

The police said that Deepa was from Arundati Nagar in Chandra Layout, Bengaluru.
