Mangalore, July 6, 2013: A 12 year old boy named Ankith from Kannagudde near Padil Kodakkal met a watery grave in an unused well at Kandevu near here on July 5, Friday.

The mishap took place when Ankith along with a few neighbouring boys had been to the well for a bath as it was a holiday for school. Ankith is the son of Nandini of Kannagudde and had lost his father when he was just eight months old. He was residing with his mother and  sibling at Kannagudde.

It is learnt, when Nandini had gone out to work, Ankith had walked towards the well  along with neighbouring  boys. Though others who went along with him had managed to come out of the well, Ankith was buried in the slush. Though a local youth had plunged into the waters to rescue Ankith, the latter had breathed his last by the time he was brought out of the well.

Ankith was an eighth standard student in a private school in the city. Mangalore Rural Police are conducting the investigations.
