17-year-old dies after his bike collides with oil tanker

Mangaluru, Apr 09, 2015: Going triples on a motorcycle turned fatal as a 17-year-old boy died after the vehicle collided with an oil tanker near NMPT Cargo gate on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Mangaluru North Traffic police, Gerald D’Souza, a Pre University student and resident of Panjimogaru, was on his way to Tannirbhavi with his classmate Devadas and his younger brother Anil D’Souza riding pillion.

Gerald was driving his elder brother’s motorcycle.

The police said that near the NMPT Cargo gate the motorcycle collided with the oil tanker around 4 p.m.

All the three fell off the motorcycle and Devadas, a resident of Kulashekara, died on the spot.

Gerald and Anil D’Souza have fractured their legs and are admitted in a private hospital.

The traffic police have booked cases against the tanker driver and also against Gerald.

A separate case has been booked against Gerald’s elder brother for allowing his younger brother to drive the motorcycle.
