Mangalore, Nov 8: All India Radio, Mangalore, has won 2 state-level Programme Excellency Awards in the documentary and musical feature categories for this year.
Concepta Alva’s documentary on the life and works of Wilfy Rebimbus and Florine Roche’s musical feature celebrating the birth centenary of Ammembal Dinakar Rao, the legendary composer and musician, are the works that won the awards.
The script for the documentary on Wilfy Rebimbus was written in Kannada by H R Alva. This is the Concepta Alva’s third award during the entire course of her 20-year career at All India Radio. In 1990, she won a national-level award for her Konkani documentary on the Konkani folk instrument “Gumat”; and in 1998, she won the state-level award for the Kannada play “Bhinnamatha,” written by renowned Kannada author, K T Gatti.
Both the programmes were broadcast in All India Radio’s 13 stations in Karnataka on September 22, 2009.
