2 labourers die as terrace of under construction house collapses in Harekala

Mangalore, Dec 1, 2012: Tragedy struck two labourers who were engaged in construction works near Ullasnagar in Harekala village on November 30, Friday, when the terrace which was under construction collapsed over them. They died on the spot.

The deceased labourers are Malappa (21) Maabu Sabu (20), both from Gadag district. Sources said that the absence of any supporting pillar to the terrace had led to the tragedy. It is said the contractor had earlier directed the two to remove the supporting pillars, eventually leading to the tragedy.

 Reports said the contract for the construction of the house was awarded to one Mohandas Shetty by one Ganesh who owns the house.

Konaje police have registered a case against the contractor.
