Mangaluru, Nov 18, 2015: As many as 23 persons have been arrested in connection with three incidents of stone throwing and group clashes reported in Dakshina Kannada, following the murder of a 29-year-old plumber in Bantwal on November 12.
These disturbances were reported following the clash in Madikeri on Tipu Jayanti celebrations on November 10 that led to death of two persons. Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D. said the 23 persons have been arrested in connection with group clashes in Bantwal, Golitottu, and Savanur on November 12 and 13. All the arrested persons have been sent to Ballari Central Prison. Mr. Sharanappa said they were yet make a breakthrough in the murder of 29-year-old Hareesh.
Meanwhile, normalcy returned in Mangaluru and other parts of Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday when no untoward incident was reported. The orders prohibiting movement of people in groups will continue in Ullal and Surathkal police station limits till 6 a.m. of November 22.
Members of Rapid Action Force and other police personnel took out a flag march in Bantwal on Tuesday.
The police said they have arrested Shobha, who was the president of Veerakamba Gram Panchayat.
