238 couples tie the knot at Dharmasthala

Beltangady, May 1: The 39th annual mass marriage programme was organized under the auspices of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Temple at Dharmasthala on April 30, Friday. Two hundred and thirty eight couples got married on that day. A team of priests solemnized the weddings and Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade blessed the couples. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Heggade expressed happiness that the principle of universal equality was gaining importance with the passage of time. Simultaneously, he also expressed his concern at the loss of mutual love, trust, understanding, faith, adjustment, and dependence among couples. He advised the couples to take family life very seriously. Noting the fact that most of the people who tied the knot on Friday 28 belonged to different castes, he expressed his happiness that inter-caste marriages with the consent of parents were on the rise. 

Chairman of M S Ramaiah Educational Institutions of Bangalore M R Jayaram said that women take pride in working for the welfare of their families. He also mentioned that an unhappy daughter-in-law can never consider herself part of her husband’s family. 

Hemavati V Heggade; Vasant Bangera; Gayatri Jayaram; Srivatsa Nahal of Birla Foundation, a writer from Madhya Pradesh; Neeraj Jain; D Surendra Kumar; D Harshendra Kumar; Supriya Harshendra Kumar; and many others were present. Dr E Mahabala Bhat conducted the programme. Harshnarayana Murty administered the oath.

One of the couples who got married on Friday was handicapped. The couples were from different parts of Karnataka such as Udupi, DK, Bangalore, Mysore, Kodagu, Dharwad, Chitradurga, Belgaum, Chikmagalur, Shimoga, Hassan, Gadag, Davanagere, Uttara Kannada, Mandya, and Bellary. One couple hailed from Kerala.
