27 pairs tie knot at Punjalakatte mass marriage ceremony

Bantwal, Feb 21, 2013  : A total of 27 pairs  tied the knot at the mass wedding ceremony organised by Swasthik Friends Club of Punjalakatte on the occasion of its fifth anniversary.


Prior to the wedding ceremony, a Dibbana of the brides and grooms was taken out from Basaveshwara Temple. The procession was flagged off by entrepreneur Nityananda Poojari.


Babu Shetty, Vice-President of Mumbai-Dahisar-Jogeshwari Regional Committee of Buntara Sangha, inaugurated the wedding ceremony. The rituals were held under the priesthood of Krishna Bhat, Chief Priest of Gopalakrishna  Temple.


Vamanjoor Lingamaruguttu Shivanna Shetty distributed Mangasutras. N Shankarappa,President of State Backward Class Commission and  MP  Nalin Kumar Kateel wished the newly wed couples.

The ‘Swasthi Siri’ awards were presented to Yajnesh Shetty Mumbai,  film director, Dr M Annaiah Kulal, noted organizer, Kishore Kumar Shiradi, environmentalist and Prashanth Kumar Alipade.


 Swasthik Sambhrama Awards were presented to outstanding achievers including journalist Laxmi Machina,  Sridar Uchil,  Kishore D Shetty, social worker P Ramakrishna Mayya and   M D Venkappa.


Sports talents namely Chinmayi and Godwin Pamela Fernandes, and folk artist Shinaparava Maladi were honoured with ’Swasthik Sambhrama Award’.

Padmanabha Kottary,District BJP President, Sulochana Bhat, President of   Balabhavan Society, former minister Nagaraj Shetty, entrepreneur Ravi Poojary, Thungappa Bangera, Founder president of Swasthik Friends Club,  Prashanth Punjalakatte, President of the Club and others were present.
