Mangalore, Nov 21: Fifty-one PUC teachers, recruited in 2001, will be reappointed to degree colleges as decided by a council organized on Nov 20, Friday. Thirteen teachers have already been reappointed in their present institutions.
Dr N Nagambikadevi, the state college education department commissioner, inaugurated the programme, and said that the department wants to enhance the quality of post graduate education.
She said that the demands of teachers have been ignored so far. Teachers must be provided favorable work atmosphere. Students also must be provided with an atmosphere conducive for study. The need to reform the education system and recreate a system that really works for the students is great, she said.
Dr. A M Narahari presided over the programme. Prof V Kamalamma, the additional director of college education department; Prof Gangadharayya, the joint director; Prof T H Eeranna; and Swebert D’Silva were the chief guests.
Prof Joslin Lobo, the president of AMUKT, welcomed the gathering. Prof Purushottham K V proposed the vote of thanks. Prof Ummappa Poojary compered the programme
