Mangalore, Dec 20: During a Zilla Panchayat review meet, A G Kodgi, the chairman of the 3rd Finance Commission Recommendations Implementation Task Force, was requested to release the rest of the grants for a number of projects such as drinking water and road repair and to pay attention to the proper execution of welfare work without affecting the Panchayat Raj system.
A G Kodgi, the chairman of the Implementation Task Force, conducted a review meeting with the officers and members of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat at the Panchayat Convention Hall. During the meeting, the advantages and disadvantages of various facilities and the problems of implementing various schemes were discussed.
As per the Rural Development Scheme, a total of Rs 30.30 crore including Rs. 1.88 crore for road repair and Rs. 9.17 crore for drinking water must be released during the year 2008 - 09. As per the RIDF Scheme, Rs. 1.69 crore must be released for the construction of schools.
Santhosh Kumar Bhandari, the president of the Zilla Panchayat and other members urged the proper implementation of these schemes.
