Mangalore, May 27: Air India was put into the emergency control mode as soon as its employees called off their flash strike.
The national carrier operated on a modified schedule till Wednesday midnight. Plans are afoot to introduce larger aircraft to deal with traffic load on busy sectors and to deploy additional staff to manage passengers on Thursday.
AI officials say that, by the evening of Wednesday, the number of bookings had shot up to 33,000 seats on Thursday. Passengers will be accommodated on flights that will be operated on Thursday, said officials.
