Aam Aadmi Party Supporting Credible Independent candidates in the MCC elections

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Mar 4, 2013: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been making waves across the country since its inception barely 3 months ago. Most of the energy of the party leaders and volunteers is centred around unearthing corruption scandals of the various governments at the centre and in states and also that of some corporate entities and rich businessmen. It is also focusing its attention towards the assembly elections in some northern states, including Delhi, that are expected to be held in later part of the year.

As announced earlier, AAP is not contesting in the current local body elections and is not likely to field its candidates in the upcoming assembly elections also. Its main focus currently is to build its team at the grass root level by working for the people in the villages, towns and cities, especially farmers, workers, students & youth and women, as successive governments have failed to respond to their specific needs.

However, being a political party, AAP has decided not to be passive in the local body elections and therefore is supporting credible independent candidates in the upcoming MCC elections on March 7. They have assured us that they will fight against corruption involved in implementing public welfare projects (mainly road construction and garbage cleanup work), will set up ward committees, and meet the residents every 2 months.

Based on their past work and assurances to work for people in the future, AAP is pleased to support the candidature of:
1) Ward 19: Kavoor - Ramesh Kotian
2) Ward 27: Boloor - Renuka Kunder
3) Ward 29: Kambla - N. P. Shenoy
4) Ward 41: Central Market- Jayshree.

AAP makes a fervent appeal to all city residents that they should actively participate in the MCC elections and exercise their mandate carefully, noting clearly as to how the past corporators have failed to respond to the needs of their wards, and how leading political parties have failed to provide basic amenities to people. AAP also warns the residents about the appearance of such candidates only during the election time, and undertaking some patch up work on roads just before the elections.

Even after the elections, AAP will ensure it will work for the people’s needs and will be in regular touch with all the corporators for issues relating to people of each ward. AAP will publicly expose non-working corporators and at the same time, corporators indulging in corruption and not working for people. AAP wishes that a model city of Mangalore be built with the support of all concerned – corporators, district administration, ward committees, and most importantly, the aam aadmi – common man.
